Ingredients

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 cups mixed berries
  • Accompainment: vanilla ice crea or lightly sweetened whipped cream

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter and flour an 8 inch square glass baking dish 2 inches deep.

Stir together sour cream and baking soda in a large bowl, then add flour, sugar, and salt and stir until just combined. Fold in berries and pour batter into baking dish.

Bake in middle of oven until top is evenly golden and wooden pick or skewer inserted in center comes out with very moist crumbs adhering, 30 to 35 minutes.

Cool on rack 15 minutes, then spoon onto plates and serve warm.
