Spaghetti with Meat Sauce (Makaronada)

This Greek style meat sauce can be served over any pasta you like, and can also be used in other Greek dishes such as Pastitsio and Moussaka.

Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 heaping tbsp. tomato paste
- 1/2 cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground gloves
- 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
- salt and pepper to taste
- 3-4 cups water

Preparation
Step 1
1. Heat oil in a pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and saute until translucent.
2. Add the ground beef and brown.
3. Dissolve the tomato paste in 1 cup of the water and add to the pot. Add in the remaining 2-3 cups of water.
4. Add the cinnamon, allspice and cloves, and simmer until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.
5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
6. Serve immediately over pasta of your choice.
