Ingredients
- 8 pieces thinly sliced round steak
- salt
- pepper
- grainy mustard
- 8 bacon slices, halved crosswise
- 1-2 large onions, halved and sliced
- 2 large dill pickles, quartered lengthwise
- 1/4 c flour for coating
- 2 tbsp butter + 1 tbsp olive oil
- 6 tbsp butter
- 6 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp beef bouillon powder
- 4 c water
- 1/4 c ketchup

Preparation
Step 1
Lay meat slice on flat surface. Sprinkly with salt and pepper and spread with mustard. Lay 2 pieces of bacon on top of meat folowed by onion and a piece of pickle. Roll up each steak and tie with string.
Coat rolls with flour. Brown in first amount of butter with oil in frying pan over med-high heat. Add more butter & oil if needed. Place rolls in small roaster.
Melt second amount of butter in frying pan. Mix in second amount of flour and bouillon powder. Stir in water and ketchup until it boils and thickens. Pour over meat in roaster. Cover and bake in 350F oven until fork tender, about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Serve with egg noodle dumplings or mashed potatoes.
