HEART-SHAPED APPLESAUCE OAT COOKIES

Ingredients
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup oats
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp molasses or honey

Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, oats and cinnamon. In a small bowl, combine the applesauce, water, egg and molasses.
3. Add the applesauce mixture to the flour mixture and stir until well blended. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out about 1/2-inch thick and cut into heart shapes with a cookie cutter.
4. Transfer cookies to a baking sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until golden and firm. Turn the oven off but leave the cookies inside for several hours to harden as they cool.
