Ingredients
- CAKE:
- 1 (4oz) package German Chocolate sweet chocolate
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 c. butter
- 2 c. sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 t. vanilla
- 2 c. flour
- 1 t. baking soda
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 4 egg whites beaten stiff
- ICING:
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 slightly beaten egg yolks
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1 t vanilla

Step 1
CAKE: Melt chocolate with boiling water. Cool. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add yolks 1 at a time and beat well after each. Blend in vanilla and chocolate. Add flour, soda and salt alternately with buttermilk to chocolate mixture. Beat after each addition until smooth. Fold in whites. Bake at 350 30-35 minutes
FROSTING: Cook and stir over medium heat until thick. About 12 minutes. Add 1 1/3 c. coconut and 1 c. chopped pecans.
