  • 3/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. cold unsalted butter, cut into tablespoons
  • 3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup plain whole or lowfat yogurt
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp. maple extract

Step 1

Place an oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F.
Spread the pecans on an ungreased baking sheet and place in the oven for 10 minutes, until lightly toasted and fragrant. Cool to room temperature. Turn the oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet or cover with parchment paper.
In a food processor fitted with a metal blade, pulse together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the butter and process until the mixture has the texture of coarse crumbs. Pulse in the oats and pecans. In a small bowl, combine the yogurt, maple syrup, and maple extract. Add to the flour mixture and process just to moisten the ingredients.
With a large spoon, place rounded mounds of dough on the baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, until lightly browned. Cool completely before serving.
