  • 2 sticks of frozen butter
  • 5 c. flour
  • 7.5 tsp. baking powder
  • 2.5 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. buttermilk

Step 1

Grate the 2 sticks of butter into a bowl. Add the flour, baking powder and salt and toss together with fingers. Freeze 10 minutes. Add buttermilk by making well in center and pouring buttermilk in. Stir 15 times until dough leaves sides of bowl. Roll dough into rectangle and fold over. Repeat 5 times. Roll 3/8" thick and cut into biscuits. Place biscuits onto parchment paper lined cookie sheet so that they are touching. Bake at 475 for 15 minutes, brush with butter.
