  • Frosting:
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 6 level Tbsp. shortening
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. softened butter
  • cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. chopped apples
  • 1 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • vanilla and enough hot milk to spread

Step 1

Sift all together twice. Cut in 6 level. Tbsp. shortening until it resembles fine meal. Add about 2/3 c. milk. Turn onto floured board and knead gently. Roll into rectangular sheet 1/4-in. thick. Spread with 2 Tbsp. softened butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon and the brown juar and chopped apples. Roll like jelly roll. Bake in a flat pan about 45 mins. Cool and cover with frosting.
