Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. almonds

Step 1

Cream butter, gradually add 1/2 c. sugar; add beaten egg yolks to which salt has been added. Add flavoring, milk, flour and baking powder. Put dough in two layer cake pans. Spread over layers the stiffly beaten egg whites of the 4 eggs to which one c. of sugar has been added. Sprinkle 1/4 c. chopped almonds lastly on top of whites. Bake 30 mins. in moderate oven. Spread with custard before serving.
