Ingredients

  • 2 c flour
  • 4 t baking powder
  • 1 t dried sage
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/4 t baking soda
  • 5 T butter, softened
  • 2/3 c milk

Step 1

Preheat oven to 450. Combine flour, powder, sage, salt and soda. Cut in butter with a pastry blender until like coarse cornmeal. Add milk all at once, then quickly stir just until uniform consistency. Turn out on floured surface, kneading gently only two or three times.
As soon as dough is not sticky, pat out until dough is about 3/4 of an inch thick, Cut with a 2 1/2 in round biscuit cutter and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake biscuits at 450 for about 10-12 min, just until golden brown on top.
