Ingredients

  • Mushroom Sauce:
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. uncooked rice
  • 4 large onions, sliced
  • 5 raw potatoes, sliced
  • 1 good c. cut celery
  • 1 can peas and liquid
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can water
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. beef extract
  • A little onion juice
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms (canned can be used)
  • 1 c. cream
  • Paprika

Preparation

Step 1

Fry onion in butter and put at bottom of casswerole or baking dish, then add the sliced potatoes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper, then add meat which was fried in butter, then the uncooked rice. Add salt, then the celery, peas and the soup, then the water. Cover tightly and bake slow for 2 hours or more. Serve with the Mushroom Sauce:

Using ingredients for the sauce, brown butter slightly, add onion juice and flour. Add the cream gradually stirring constantly. Add mushrooms, beef extract, salt and paprika.
