  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, well beaten
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Step 1

Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Add milk, then flour sifted with salt, baking powder, and spices. Roll on lightly floured surface 3/8" thick. Cut with floured doughnut cutter or glass; let stand 15 mins.; fry in deep hot fat (375) until brown, turning once. Drain on paper towels.
