  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup crisco
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

Step 1

1. Combine 1 1/3 cups flour and yeast in large mixing bowl.
Heat together milk, sugar, Crisco and salt.
Just until warm enough to melt Crisco.

2. Add to the dry ingredients in mixing bowl - add egg - Beat at low speed for 30 seconds. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes.
By hand or with fork, stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough

Grease a large bowl with Crisco, and place dough in bowl, cover with towel and let rise until double in size. About 1 1/2 hours. Punch down, cover and let dough rest 10 minutes. Shape as desired. Dust with flour and shape.

3. Place on a greased cookie sheet or muffin pans. Let rise approximate 40 minutes. Bake at 400 degrees for 12 50 15 minutes. (about 18)
