Ingredients
- One 8 oz. pkg. (4 foil wrapped bars) Nestle semi-sweet chocolate baking bars
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup almonds, chopped and toasted
- Slivered or sliced almonds

Preparation
Step 1
• Preheat oven to 325° F. Melt over hot (not boiling) water, Nestle semi-sweet chocolate baking bars, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat; cool 5 minutes.
• In small mixer bowl, beat eggs and salt at high speed until thick, about 3 minutes. Add brown sugar and beat at high speed until thickened, about 5 minutes. Beat in cooled chocolate and vanilla extract until smooth. Stir in chopped almonds.
• Drop mixture by rounded measuring teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Insert one almond slice into top of each cookie. Bake 8-10 minutes or until shiny and set. Cool on cookie sheets 2 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets; cool
CHOCOLATE WALNUT COOKIE BITES:
Substitute 1 cup walnuts, chopped and toasted, for almonds. Garnish cookies with small pieces of walnut before baking.
