Ingredients

  • SAUCE:
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 3/4 c. minced celery
  • 1/4 c. chopped almonds
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. fine dry bread crumgs
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. monosodium glucamate
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • Cornstarch
  • 3 Tbsp. oil
  • _________________
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 c. chicken broth
  • 1/2 c. vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1/2 c. pineapple juice
  • 1 green pepper cut into long narrow strips
  • 1 c. pineapple chunks

Preparation

Step 1

Mix meat, celery, almonds, and garlic crushed with salt together. Add bread crumbs, soy sauce, monosodium glutamate, and eggs. Form into ball, about 1" in diameter. Roll in cornstarch. Brown on all sides in hot oil. Simmer about 15 mins. , turning frequently. Mix sugar and cornstarch together. Add chicken broth, vinegar, soy sauce, and pineapple juice and cook,stirring constantly until thick and smooth. Add green pepper and pineapple and heat thru. Pour over meat balls and serve on rice.
