Maggie's Jumbo Raisin Cookies

Ingredients
- 2 cups seedless raisins
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup shortening
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. allspice
- 3 eggs
- 4 to 4 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts

Step 1
Simmer raisins for 5 minutes in 1 1/2 cups water. drain and save 1/2 cups liguid. Blend shortening, spices and vanilla. Add sugar and cream throughly. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift flour 7 salt and add alternately to creamed mixture with the raisin water. Add nuts. chill.
drop by spoonful on greased tins. Frost with lemon cream frosting.
Bake 350* for 10 to 12 minutes.
