Ingredients

  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. elbow macaroni
  • 3 tbsp. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 2 cups grated sharp cheese
  • 6 to 8 salted tomato slices

Step 1

Cook macaroni according to pkg. directions; drain, and place in a buttered 1 1/2 casserole. Melt butter, stir in flour and blend well. Gradually add milk and cook over med. heat until thick. Add salt, pepper and 1 1/2 cups cheese, stirring to melt cheese. Gently mix sauce with macaroni, arrange tomato slices on top (pushing each edge into macaroni). Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 30 min.

I don't like to bake. It gets too dry.
