Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup raw rice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt or more
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 med. head of cabbage
  • 2 cups or more of v-8 juice
  • 1 lg. onion, choppped
  • 1 stick of margarine

Step 1

Core cabbage and put into boiling water to loosen the leaves. Work with 2 forks to do this and pull each leaf till they all come loose. Start taking them out on a large platter ready to be filled.

Add onion to the margarine and saute till golden brown. Add to the meat and rice mixture in large bowl. Add egg, salt & pepper and mix well. Add a spoonful to each leaf and fold in tucking in the sides well. Place in kettle to cook, add v-8 juice to cover and let simmer for 1 hour.
