Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup currants
- 1 egg
- 2/3 cup milk

Step 1
In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, baking powder & salt.
Add butter, cut in until it looks like crumbs.
Stir in the currants (optional). Make a well in the center.
In a small bowl beat the egg until frothy.
Stir in the milk, and then pour into the well. Stir to mix.
Form soft dough. Turn out onto a floured surface. Knead 8 to 10 times. Cut into two pieces. Pat each piece into 6inch circles. Cut out with biscuit cutter. Place on greased baking sheet.
Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
Score each top. Bake in 425 oven for 15 to 20 mins
*Note: Cut the sugar & omit the currants for a great tea biscuit.
