Ingredients

  • 2 c sifted flour
  • 2 t baking powder
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 4 T butter or shortening
  • scant 3/4 c milk

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400. Sift flour, then measure into med mixing bowl. Add baking powder and salt and sift again. Cut in shortening or butter. Add milk 2 T at a time, stirring until soft dough is formed.
Turn out on slightly floured board and lightly knead for 30 seconds, enough to shape. Do not over knead. Roll 1/2 in thick and cut with 2 in floured biscuit cutter.
Bake on ungreased sheet for 12-15 min.
