Ingredients

  • 1 Whole Brie or Camembert
  • 1 Tart Apple, like granny smith or fuji, peeled and sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
  • Brown sugar, a sprinkle or if you like it sweeter, add more.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cayenne pepper, optional and to taste
  • Caramelized Pecans, found at Trader Joe's
  • Puff pastry sheet
  • Egg Wash

Preparation

Step 1

Sautee Apples in butter, adding the brown sugar, salt and both peppers, to taste.

Roll out puff pastry. Place apples on puff pastry ,pecans and then add brie on top.
Cover with puff pastry, Turn over and cut off extra pastry. Egg wash bottom of pastry to stick all edges together overlapping.

Cut out extra Puff pastry into leaves or other designs to cover top. cover the pastry with egg wash and place leaves on top and brush them with the egg wash.
Place in freezer. This can be frozen for months, do not cover until it is completely frozen.

If using immediately:

Bake at 400 degrees until golden brown all over, about 30 minutes. do not over bake or cheese will ooze out.
Serve with fresh sliced baguettes, sliced apples, or crackers

This can also be baked frozen (425 degrees)
Can also use just the pecans and 1 cup of brown sugar as another topping, for the brie.
This is a great hostess gift or Christmas gift ...keep frozen when giving it as a gift.
