Ingredients

  • 2 fryers cut in pieces
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup celery
  • 2 Tablespoons celery leaves
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon basil
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley

Preparation

Step 1

Brown chicken pieces and set aside.
In pan that you will bake the chicken in put onions, celery, celery leaves and cook until tender. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup flour and mix well. Add chicken broth, sugar, salt, pepper, basil, bay leaves and parsley. Add chicken and cover. Bake in 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.

Remove cover and increase heat to 425 degrees. Drop in dumplings and bake uncovered 10 minutes. Cover and bake another 10 minutes.

Dumplings: 2 C biscuit mix & 2/3 C milk
