USO COOKIES

These cookies are said to have been developed by the USO during WWII because they were easy to ship. I added dried cranberries or craisins as well!

Ingredients
- Heat oven to 350 degrees
- 3/4 cup Shortening
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbs milk
- 2 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 baking soda
- 1 c raisins
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup craisins (optional)
- whole pecans

Preparation
Step 1
Combine shortening, spices, and salt. Blend well.
Add brown sugar and cream well
Add eggs and milk, mix well.
Mix in flour and baking soda then add raisins, cranberries(craisins), and nuts
Drop by teaspons on baking sheet. I flatten by placing peacan half on top and pressing down. Bake 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire racks.
