Ingredients

  • 8 slices bread (crusts removed) and cut into cubes (typically I use wheat)
  • 1 lb. cheddar cheese, grated (Colby or Swiss would also work)
  • 8 - 12 eggs depending on how many people you are serving ( I think I used about 10 for your smaller pan)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3/4 cup - 1 cup of milk
  • 3/4 Tsp. dry mustard
  • cubed ham, cooked sausage or cook crumbled bacon (whatever you've got around the house to eat!)

Preparation

Step 1

Place cubed bread crumbs in greased 9 x 13 or 8 x 11 pan (depending on amount of eggs and used)

Sprinkle grated cheese over bread cubes. Beat eggs, milk salt, pepper, mustard together and pour over bread cubes. Press down so that cubes are all under cover!

Refrigerate overnight (minimum of 6 hours). Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes. Casserole is done when knife inserted comes out clean.

If you want, you can add cooked chopped broccoli, mushrooms and onions, too. Just like making an omelet, whatever suits your fancy.
