Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 3 Tbsp freshly brewed double strength Maxwell House coffee, any variety
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 pkg (8 oz) semisweet baking chocolate squares, cut into chunks
- 1 1/2 cups chopped walnuts

Preparation
Step 1
1. Heat oven to 325 degrees.
2. Mix flour and baking soda; set aside. Beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Mix in coffee, egg and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture until well blended.
3. Add chocolate and nuts; stir until evenly distributed. Refrigerate 30 min. Roll dough into 1" balls. Place 2" apart on cookie sheet.
4. Bake 10-12 min or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
For Variation=Prepare as directed using 1/4 cup coffee mixed with 2 Tbsp boiling water; let stand for 15 min.
