Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 sticks butter, room temp
  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400. In a bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Beat together butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat to combine. Gradually add flour mix on low, and mix until just combined. In a small bowl, add 1/4 cup sugar, cinnamon and chili powder. Form balls of dough and roll in cinnamon mixture. Place on baking sheets 3 inches apart. Bake until set, 10 minutes, rotating halfway. Let cool on wire racks 5 minutes, then remove from sheets and cool completely.
