Ingredients

  • 1 bag (16 oz) frozen pearl onions
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3/4 cup white or red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Step 1

Combine the onions, water, vinegar, sugar and pepper flakes in a medium saucepan. Place over medium-low heat, cover and cook for 10 minutes. Remove the lid and cook for another 10 minutes, until the liquid has reduced and begins to cling to the onions. The onions should be tender but not falling apart. Season with salt and pepper.
