Chocolate Hazelnut Sandwich Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/3 cup whole hazelnuts
• 3 sticks margarine
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 tsp almond extract
• 2 tsp water
• 3 1/2 cup flour
• 1/2 tsp kosher salt
• 3/4 cup chocolate spread(such as Nutella)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350. Place nuts on a cookie sheet. Roast for 10 min. Let cool. Process in a food processor with the S blade until fine. Cream sugar and margarine,add nuts and rest of ingredients. Refrigerate dough for 30 min. or more. Divide dough in 1/2. Shape into cookies.(optional make 1/2 the dough with cut outs in the middle of the cookie and the other half leave whole) Bake for 20-25 min. Let cool. Sprinkle the cut out cookies with confec. sugar. Make sandwich cookies with the chocolate spread in the middle.
