Ingredients

  • to make self rising flour:
  • 2 cups self-rising flour**
  • 12 oz. bottled beer
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 tea. baking powder
  • 1/2 tea. salt
  • Yogurt can be added for a traditional sourdough flavor.
  • Optional: Chopped green onions or jalapenos

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Sift together flour and sugar, then pour in room temperature beer and stir 25 strokes.

Place in a buttered bread pan and bake 1 to 1 1/4 hours. Cool and wrap in foil overnight.

Bread will have heavy crust.
