Ingredients
- 1 cup uncooked grits - (not quick)
- 4.5 to 5 cups water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1.25 pound sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 1 garlic clove of powder
- 1 teaspoon black powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 3 eggs
- crumbled sausage, if desired

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375 deg.
Boil grits with 1st 3 ingredients, then turn to low, cover and cook for 1 hr. (Jana has used quick grits; cooked in shorter amount of time)
Add remaining ingredients (except eggs) and blend well.
Beat 3 eggs and blend well with grits.
Add crumbled sausage, if desired
Cook in a 13 x 9 x 2 in dish at 375 deg for 1 hr
