Poached Pears

My own concoction...use whatever pears are available... ditto the Chardonnay...

Ingredients
- 2 pears (I used red), peeled, halved, cored - stems intact (hopefully)
- 1/4 c sugar
- 1/8 c honey (not quite)
- 1 c water
- 1/2 Chardonnay (I had Bogle on hand)
- 1 t vanilla
- 1/2 cinnamon stick
- 3 whole cloves
- broken piece star anise
- fresh orange peel - 3 strips

Cooking time 45mins

Step 1
simmer, covered, 30 minutes +/- a few.
simmer remaining juices, uncovered, to a syrup - cool to room temp
to serve, partially melt vanilla ice cream.
drizzle a little syrup over all.
