Allow ¾ cup stuffing for each pound of chicken or turkey. This recipe makes enough for a 12 lb turkey.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups chopped celery (with leaves)
- 1 cup butter
- 9 cups soft bread cubes
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp dried sage leaves
- 1 tsp dried thyme leaves
- 1/2 tsp pepper

Step 1
Cook and stir onion and celery in butter in a large skillet until onion is tender. Stir in about 1/3 of the bread cubes. Turn into a deep bowl. Add remaining ingredients; toss. Stuff turkey just before roasting.
To cook in a slow cooker, proceed as above. Put stuffing in a slow cooker and add a couple of cups of chicken broth. Turn slow cooker on low. Cook for at least 2 hours. Add more broth or water as needed.
