Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 bottle candy oil (2 drams size or 1 tbsp oil)
  • Food coloring
  • Powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together sugar, corn syrup and water in a heavy sauce pan.

Cook over medium heat until sugar is dissolved and reaches the hard crack stage; remove from heat.

Add 1 small bottle of candy oil and food coloring. Stir thoroughly until all bubbles are gone; pour onto cookie sheet lined with non-stick foil or lightly buttered marble cutting board (works best); when almost cool break into bite size pieces.

To prevent candy pices from sticking, place 1/2 cup powdered sugar into a plastic bag, put in candy and shake.
Then pour candy out of bag into a colander that has been placed over a bowl.

Note: if you use a citrus flavor oil add one citric acid per batch (lemon, lime, orange, etc.)
