Ingredients

  • 1

    loaf great harvest cinnamon swirl or cinnaburst bread {or other favorite}

  • 3

    large green apples

  • 1/2-3/4

    cup brown sugar

  • 12

    oz. cream cheese

  • 1

    quart milk

  • Cinnamon

  • 1

    stick butter

  • 1

    tablespoon water

  • 8

    eggs

  • 2

    tablespoons vanilla

Directions

Set rack in lower third of oven. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Spray 9x13” pan. Core and cut apples into thin slices, leaving skin on. Melt butter with brown sugar and water. Add apples and cook 3-5 minutes. Spread into pan and cool. Cube cream cheese and dot onto apple mixture, cover with a layer of bread slices. Beat eggs together with milk and vanilla; pour over all, dampening all the bread. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake 40-60 minutes, until golden and puffy. Let sit 10 minutes before cutting and serving. *You can bake immediately or refrigerate overnight. **Use peaches next time you try this recipe, or omit the fruit if you like.
