Ingredients

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda in 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs

Preparation

Step 1

Cream peanut butter and shortening together. Add sugars, then eggs. Sift flour and salt together. Add to peanut butter mixture. Add the baking soda that has been mixed in the hot water. Make 1-inch balls and use your potato masher to flatten (this helpful hint is from John Brandsma).

Bake in hot oven at 375 degrees and brown. Put on racks to cool
