Ingredients

  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced 1/2 inch thick
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

In saucepan, cook brown sugar, butter and corn syrup until syrupy.

Pour into greased 9" x 13" rectangular non-metallic pan; spread over bottom. Top with even layer of apple slices.
Top with bread.

Mix milk, eggs, vanilla and pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

In the morning, bake at 350F, uncovered, for 40 to 45 minutes or until golden on top and puffed, and knife inserted in thickest part
