Ingredients
- Topping:
- 4 T vegetable oil
- 2 lbs boneless beef chuck, cut 1/2 inch cubes
- 1 large chopped onion
- 2 large fresh jalapeno chiles chopped
- 4 garlic cloves chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 T chili powder
- 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
- 1 10 ox box frozen corn
- 1-1/2 c water
- 1 - 15 oz can pinto or black beans
- 1 c chopped pimiento stuffed green olives
- 1 Cup all purpose flour
- 1 Cup cornmeal
- 3 - oz sharp cheddar (3/4 Cup)
- 1-1/2 T sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 gound cumin
- 1 med fresh jalapeno chile chopped
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 T melted butter
- 1 large egg (sl beaten)

Step 1
Directions: Make chili, simmer uncovered until tender 1-1/2 hours.
Remove from heat and add beans, olives, salt to taste. Transfer to 3 qt baking dish.
MakeTopping:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Whisk flour, cornmeal, cheese, sugar, baking powder, salt, cumin and jalapeno in large bowl. Whisk together milk, butter, and egg in sm bowl then stir into flour mixture until just combined.
Drop batter by large spoonfuls (about 8) over chili, spacing them evenly, and bake in middle of oven 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F and bake pie until topping is cooked through, about 30 min more.
