Ingredients
- 6 medium-large potatoes
- 1 1/2 cupsGuyere or Emmenthaler cheese
- Butter
- Salt
- Pepper
- 1/2 cup heavy cream

Preparation
Step 1
Peel and thinly slice potatoes.
Shred 1 1/2 cups cheese.
Butter a 2 1/2 quart baking dish thoroughly and arrange in it alternating layers of potatoes and cheese, dotting each layer with butter and sprinkling them with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Pour 1/2 cup heavy cream over the potatoes and cheese and bake in a 325 degree oven until the potatoes are tender and the cheese melted through them. Serve piping hot.
