Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 package quick-rise instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 3 tbsp liquid honey
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Step 1

Combine whole wheat flour, 1/4 cup all purpose flour, wheat germ, salt and yeast. Heat milk, butter, water and honey until hot to touch (125F). Stir hot liquid into flour mixture. Add egg. With an electric mixer, beat dough 2 minutes. Using spoon, stir in reserved all purpose flour until well blended. Place dough into a 9" round make pan, coated with cooking spray. Cover; let rise until doubled in size, 40 to 50 minutes.

Bake in 375F oven about 30 minutes. Remove from pan. Cool on wire rack.
