Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp corn syrup, light or dark
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, or less
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 loaf French bread, 3/4" thick slices
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

In a small saucepan, combine corn syrup, butter and brown sugar. Simmer until syrupy. Pour this in bottom of 9" x 13" pan. Sprinkle nuts over syrup. Add bread. In a bowl, beat together eggs, milk, vanilla and salt.
Pour over bread. Cover dish and put in refrigerator overnight.

Preheat oven to 350F. Bake for 45 minutes.
