Ingredients

  • 1/2 c chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 3/4 lb ground beef
  • salt
  • 1/2 c white wine
  • 2 c chopped canned peeled tomatoes, with their juice
  • 1/3 c grated Parmesan-Reggiano
  • Pasta

Step 1

In a large sauce pan, combine the onion with olive oil and butter. Cook until golden, then stir in ground beef and cook for 5 minutes; season with salt.

Add the wine and cook for 2 minutes.

Stir in the tomatoes, season with salt, bring to a simmer and cook for 1-1/2 hours.

Add the cheese when tossing with the pasta.
