Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine, melted
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup dry milk
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup dates or raisins
  • 1 1/2 cup chopped unpeeled apple
  • 1 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup nuts

Preparation

Step 1

Mix together melted margarine, brown sugar, & eggs.
Mix flour, baking powder, & salt.
Stir the wheat flour, dry milk, oats, & wheat germ.
Add flour mixture & milk alternately to margarine, brown sugar & eggs.Fold in dates or raisins and apple.
Fill loaf pans.

Bake at 350* in greased pans 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes in pan. (Can do muffins- bake 45 minutes)
