Ingredients

  • 14 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted and cooled, divided
  • 1-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pecans, toasted and coarsely chopped

Step 1

Adjust an oven rack to middle position and preheat oven 350 degrees. Line a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with aluminum foil. Brush 2 tablespoons melted butter across bottom of line pan.

In medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder and salt and reserve.

In a large bowl, whisk remaining 12 tablespoons melted butter and brown sugar until combined. Add eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until combined. Using a rubber scraper, fold dry ingredients into egg mixture until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in chocolate chips and pecans and turn batter into prepared pan, smoothing top with rubber spatula.

Bake 22 to 25 minutes, until top is shiny and cracked and feels firm to the touch.

Remove from oven to a wire rack to cool completely. Remove bars from pan by lifting foil handles, transfer to a cutting board and cut in 1-1/2 x 2 inch bars.

Serve.
