Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (divided in half)
  • 1 medium egg
  • 3/4 cup water

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

Combine all ingredients (EXCEPT 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese). Knead until thoroughly mixed.

Using a teaspoon, scoop out the dough and roll into quarter-sized balls. On a lightly floured surface, roll the balls into pencil-shaped "sticks" in the extra 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese until the sticks are coated. Flatten with a rolling pin or by hand. Twist the sticks 6-8 times and place on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake approximately 30 minutes.

Cool on the pan. Store in a sealed container.
