Turtle Cake
By cacelias
I have made this cake several times for Zach's birthday. It's yummy! I leave out the nuts, but you can add them if you wish.

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Prepare cake mix in a medium bowl according to package directions. Pour half of batter into greased 9x13 dish. Bake for 15 minutes. While cake is baking, melt caramels with milk and butter in a double boiler (or in the microwave); stirring until smooth. Take the partially baked cake out of the oven after the 15 minutes and slowly pour the caramel mixture over the cake. Spread evenly. Sprinkle the chocolate chips and 1/2 cup pecans over the caramel mixture. Pour the remaining cake batter over top, spreading evenly. Sprinkle with remaining pecans. Bake for 30 minutes or until center is set. Cool completely before slicing.
