Ingredients
- Dried pasta or Nokedli:
- 4-5 strips bacon, sliced
- 1 lg onion
- 1/2 t ground caraway seed
- 3 T ground paprika powder
- 2 1/2 - 3 lbs beef stew meat in 3/4" cubes
- 2 t salt
- 6 1/2 C water
- 2 med carrots cut in pennies
- 1 small parsnip cut in pennies
- 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1/4" pieces
- 2 stalks celery cut into 1/4" pieces
- 2 lg potatoes cut into 1/2"cubes
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 C flour
- 1/2 t salt
- 2 T water
- Sliced red hot peppers

Step 1
Heat bacon until crisp in large pot. Add onions and simmer 10min. Add caraway and simmer 3-5 min. Remove from heat, add paprika powder and stir. Add meat and season with salt.
Return to heat, cover and cook on medium 5 min. Add 6-6 1/2C water and continue to cook for 30min. Meat should be halfway cooked… Add carrots and parsnips, cover and cook 10 min, then add red bell pepper and celery. Cook 15min. When meat and veggies are almost done add potatoes. Simmer until potatoes are tender 15 min. Add dumplings or pasta.
Nokedli: Mix eggs, flour, salt and water to smooth consistency.
Add batter to boiling soup by small spoonfuls (1/2t) Cook 4-5min until noodles are tender.
Serve soup hot with slices of bread and hot peppers or hot pepper puree on the side.
