! The best part of this dish is that it is incredibly simple to make. It requires not marinating or prep. Just sprinkle the seasoning on the chicken, cook and add cream. It takes about 15 minutes total. You can't beat that! I like to serve this over angel hair pasta, but it would also be good with mashed potatoes. Next time we are going to try a combination of half chicken and half andouille sausage. I can't wait!
Combine salt, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle over both sides of chicken tenders.
In large saute pan, melt half of the butter over medium-high heat. Cook the chicken tenders until done, about 8 minutes.
Pour the cream and remaining butter into the skillet. Lower heat and simmer until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Serve chicken and sauce over pasta or mashed potatoes, if desired.

Looks delish! How is the heat factor? Think kiddos could handle it?
What kind of chile powder? There is an infinite variety of them - type of chile, heat, etc. (Some even say chile powder when meaning hot pepper, i.e. cayenne). Thanks!
We used ancho chile and it was a home run. Wasn't as much heat as I had expected. We'll use a little more cayennne on the next try. Awesome and simple little recipe!
Judy - the sauce won't thicken as much if you use half-and-half. You can add a little flour to help it thicken up or just have a thinner sauce. Either way it will be delicious! Enjoy!
Can't wait to make this one!
Looks fabulous and easy to make, will be a winner with my family.
Mountain Meme - you can use evaporated milk in place of the heavy cream. Enjoy!
I made this last night and used evaporated milk in place of the cream and it didn't thicken like it should have. It was good but it looked nothing like the picture and I think we really missed out on the creaminess.
YOU HAVE GOT TO HAVE THE BEST FOOD PAGE/WEBPAGE .. I CAN NOT MAKE HALF OF WHAT YOU DO, BUT, I SURE DO WISH I LIVED ON YOUR STREET BECAUSE YOU COULD BRING ME SAMPLES ANYTIME... THANKS FOR SHARING ALL THE GOODY RECIPES AN PIC'S....
This looks so good. I'm trying to stay away from things like cream and butter, but I might have to make an exception with this one!
so do i leave the chicken in the pan when it's done and add the cream/butter, or do you take it out before that step?
Didn't get enough cream from store gonna try evampoated milk(powder) might help with thickening, also added fresh cherry tomatoes from garden and some fresh mushrooms, sauce tastes great can wait till it's done
Wow! Just made this tonight for dinner. So simple to make and really delicious. Very flavorful sauce. I love how there was a hint of spicy "heat" in the background. Not overpowering at all. Yummy!
Made this tonight used light cream and added a bag of fresh spinach. Yum! Turned out great and served over the angel hair.
Made this! Super yummy!!! I made it the regular way (by the recipe)..tried it first..was very good :) Then, I noticed the bottle of Moscato in my fridge, so I added a little of that and squeezed in a fresh lemon. Yummy to my tummy!!!
Doing Lo Carb and making this tonight but over Zucchini "noodles" that I made with my new spiral slicer. Adding some mushrooms too- looks delicious!
Made it last night, Steph, it was wonderful! I loved the seasoning- very subtle and not spicy at all. I served it with zucchini noodles, added mushrooms and half the amount of cream. Thank you, this is a make again- Oh I put the chicken under the broiler a bit while I made the sauce.
Steph, did you ever make it with the andouille sausage? I will be making this in the upcoming week! Your recipes are so yummy!!!
Made this a couple of nights ago. My kids and hubby loved it! Will definitely be making this in a regular basis! I added sliced red bell peppers added extra color and delicious taste!! Thanks for sharing!
Followed the directions exactly and it was absolutely awesome.. All of us loved it, and ours did have heat. Our spices cooked on the chicken like a blackened crust, and when I added the cream and butter and kept simmering the chicken it made an amazing spicy cream sauce. Second time I used chipotle chili powder which added great smoke flavor, and a cup of frozen peas at the end. Even better!
I made this tonight and it was great. Not too spicy but you get a hint of heat. I served mine over egg noodles but definitely want to try mashed potatoes next time with the delicious gravy/sauce. I did 1/2 the recipe since there are only two of us and it was perfect! Thanks for sharing, glad I found you through Pinterest.
Just tried this. My husband and I loved it! Absolutely delicious. I put mine over some homemade mashed potatoes and I didn't have enough cream so I added some corn starch. 5 stars!
I love this recipe as is, but modified it into what is now a standing favorite. Instead of cream, I used jarred alfredo sauce and about 1/4 cup of vermouth. The mix of spices is amazing in that extra creamy sauce. Thank you for sharing this excellent dish!
This was delicious! I was out of garlic powder, so I just sautéed one clove of minced garlic in the melted butter after cooking the chicken and before adding the cream. I served it with quinoa. Everyone loved it. Will definitely make again, maybe with some sliced mushrooms added in.
Just made this with thighs and the family loved it...thanks! I think I'll add peas next time too....
Making this tonight, over wheat pasta.
What makes it thicken with out flowering the chicken?
Made this for lunch today! So easy and delicious! Kids loved it. I added just a pinch of chicken bouillon to the sauce. Wow! Cant wait to make it again & try adding some veggies. Thanks for a great recipe.
Make sure to cook it at a high heat - if you almost boil it, it will thicken
I love this and make it alot. Used shrimp instead of chicken a couple of weeks ago. YUM
I didn't have heavy cream (I usually don't have it on hand and don't need it). I used skim milk. After the chicken was browned on both sides, I removed it from the pan, added 1T butter, 2T flour, stirred until smooth then added 2 cups of skim milk. Simmered until thickened, then added the chicken back to the pan. I also seasoned the sauce with a little salt and pepper.
Are you in America? Because chili powder is all about the same here. It's not a certain chile powder, but a blend to season chili.

Made tonight and everyone devoured it! Next time I'm adding mushrooms and maybe red bell peppers. Delicious!
Made this tonight. It was good. Added mushrooms, onions and some crushed red pepper flakes . I also broke up some lasagna noodles as that's all I had. :)
Made this tonight and it was delicious. Added mushrooms, onions(To use them up) and crushed red pepper flakes. Also broke up some lasagna noodles as that's all I had.
Hi everyone, please cook this sauce at HIGH HEAT so it will thicken. Since you aren't using a roux, that's how it will thicken. I'm just trying to save everyone the frustration of combing through the comments when your sauce hasn't thickened whatsoever over lowered/medium heat (as it says in the instructions) after ten minutes. Either that, or just make a roux as you would with an alfredo. The seasoning will still be there.
Made a veggie version of this today for just myself and it was fabulous! I added a swirl of honey as the sauce was finishing, reminds me of the honey Chipotle chicken pasta at Cheesecake Factory!
I make this frequently using jarred alfredo sauce instead of heavy cream, and reducing about 1/3 cup of dry white wine in the pan with the butter by about half before adding the alfredo. It's delicious! I have to serve it over noodles with bread on the side to mop up any leftover sauce.
Subbed fat free 1/2&1/2, thickened with corn starch, added mushrooms. Next time I'll use olive oil instead of butter to make it super healthy.
Made a very similar recipe for years, in fact was going to make it tonight. Our seasoning is just garlic salt and Lawry's Seasoning salt, tho. We call it Chicken Ala Creme from a recipe I found, my kids call it Salty Chicken. May have to try it with the chili powder someday, nice touch!
Found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to test it out...was not disappointed. I was able to make this with pretty much what I had on hand. SO is not a fan of spice...so I just used paprika and also was short 1/2 c. of heavy cream...subbed with cream of chicken and mushroom mixed with a bit of milk to thin it out. The plate was licked clean :-) and I'm looking forward to eating my lunch today, which happens to be these leftovers.
I added in some spinach, spring onions and peas to the mix, and a little fresh parmesan which helped with the thickening. Ended up being a lot like a Carbonara without the fuss that using eggs brings.
I made this tonight & it's a winner winner chicken dinner! Any ideas on how to make this for a crowd?
Delicious. I used a roasted chicken from last night. I sliced it, put it in a gallon size plastic bag, added the spices and shook it around. I added mushrooms which I cooked before I added the chicken. Ancho Chile sauce and no cayenne were what I chose to use. It was amazing. I won't have it frequently, due to the high calorie content of the heavy cream, but I sure will enjoy it when I do fix it. It's a keeper.
Any ideas on what to substitute the heavy cream for to make it a bit healthier?
Now I never really comment much on the internet, but I do alot of cooking so people alike this is a mediocre recipe. Scale it 10 through 10 I give it a 6 at best for taste factor. Not to mention it's a total fat persons delight not to judge giving it's all butter and cream. But today was my cheat day and on a positive note it was very inexpensive to make as well as easy as making frozen chicken nuggets. It definitely served it's purpose for what it was. But to run home and tell friends about not so much. ..I give this a thumbs up but not a double thumbs..but not gonna lie it was damn quick and easy and cheap for a quick carb, calorie and protein load as I used it for..
I make this for my family almost once a week now! I have been for a long time and now I am finally coming to let you know you have one killer family favorite right here! I am sharing on my blog as such!
What kind of veggies would you combine this with?
