Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 6 tablespoons butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 eggs

Preparation

Step 1

1. Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
2. Butter a 8×8 baking dish and set aside.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk, melted butter, and eggs.
5. Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until combined taking care not to over mix.
6. Pour the cornbread batter into prepared pan. Bake cornbread for about 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean after inserted into the center.
7. Remove cornbread from oven and cut into squares.
