Ingredients

  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3/8 cup red wine, or red wine vinegar, or 1-2 tsp anchovy paste
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh basil
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 2 (14.5 oz) cans peeled and diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Preparation

Step 1

1. Heat oil in large skillet or saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic in oil for 5 minutes

2. Stir in wine, sugar, basil, red pepper, tomatoe paste, lemon juice, italian seasoning, black pepper and tomatoes. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer uncovered 15 minutes or longer.

3. Stir in parsley. Ladle over hot cooked pasta.
