Ingredients
- 3 slices white bread, torn
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 teaspoon onion salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (12-ounce) bottle chili sauce
- 2/3 cup currant jelly
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon prepared yellow mustard
- 1 pound cocktail franks

Step 1
Place bread in a large bowl. Add milk. Let stand for 5 minutes. Add ground beef, egg, onion salt and black pepper and mix well. Shape into 1-inch balls.
Cook meatballs in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning frequently, until browned, about 8 minutes.
Combine the chili sauce, currant jelly, lemon juice and mustard in a small bowl and mix well.

Grandma's Secret Trick
Substitutions were Grandma's specialty, and she found that if she couldn't find currant jelly, other types of jelly would work just as well. She used cherry jelly, grape jelly, plum jam and even jellied cranberry sauce.
Spoon chili sauce mixture into a slow cooker. Add meatballs and franks and mix well. Cook, covered, on HIGH for 2 hours.
